About this work
Anne de Pisseleu, lady-in-waiting to Queen-Mother Louise of Savoy and since 1530 mistress of Francis I (1494-1547), who married her off in 1533 to Jean de Brosses, to whom he, on that occasion, granted the title Count of Étampes. Anne d'Étampes retained her influence at court until the death of Francis I. She is depicted as an amazon on a standing horse. According to the inscription 'ghecontrefeyt na dleven'.
