About this work
Bacchus adorned with grapevines has his left arm around Venus's shoulder and holds a bunch of grapes before her, which Amor reaches for. Standing before Venus is Ceres with ears of corn in her hair, a sickle in her hand and the cornucopia under her arm. The image is an illustration of the saying 'Sine Cerere et Baccho friget Venus' (without Ceres and Bacchus, Venus would freeze).
