About this work

William of Orange crosses the Meuse between Maastricht and Maaseik with his men in the night of 5 to 6 October 1568. William of Orange stands in the foreground between his officers and points the way for his army during the crossing of the Meuse. This print is part of a series of 24 prints with scenes from the life of Prince William I, 1568-1584 and is an illustration to the first song.
