About this work

Salome dances seductively before her stepfather King Herod. As a reward she was allowed to make a wish. Spurred on by her mother Herodias, Salome asked for the head of John the Baptist. Here the executioner offers Salome and Herod the head of John the Baptist on a platter. Salome is half-naked and is held by both hands by Herod.
