About this work
Half-length portrait of Maurice, Prince of Orange, in an oval laurel wreath. In the upper left and right corners, two cartouches with cherubs, containing text of six lines each in Latin. The portrait rests on a pedestal, with additional text of two columns of five lines each in Latin and an emblem with a motto in Latin on a ribbon. Above the portrait is a family coat of arms, and at the very top a radiant Tetragram. On either side of the portrait are figures holding palm branches and arrows. Two sphinxes are located at the lower left and right.
