About this work
On a stage figures stand around a beehive, symbol of the Amsterdam Schouwburg. In the background the winged horse Pegasus flies and Apollo on Mount Parnassus plays the lyre. The performance is framed with foliage and branches, at the top is the coat of arms of the city of Amsterdam. On a border below the beehive is a two-line verse in Dutch.
