About this work

The sitter wears a military costume with epaulettes bearing three stars. In his left hand he holds a rolled piece of paper with the visible words: King William. At his left wrist hangs a sword; he wears a belt with lion heads and a knightly order on his chest. The portrait is depicted between cloud patches. Under the portrait a text regarding the titles of the sitter and a family coat of arms.
