About this work
Adonis, the son of Myrrha and her father Cinyras, is born from the trunk of a tree. His mother was indeed changed into a myrrh tree during her pregnancy at her own request. The nymphs of the forest help with the birth. The print bears a Latin inscription and is part of a series on the life of Adonis.
