Landscape with Salmacis and Hermaphroditus in the lake in which Salmacis lived. Salmacis, one of Diana's nymphs, fell in love with Hermaphroditus. She reaches for him, while he tries to ward her off, before she would embrace him and according to the myth they would merge into a hermaphroditic being. Amor watches from the shore. In the margin the title in French, English, German and Dutch.
