About this work
Scene from *Pantagruel* by Rabelais in which five men, Ponocrates, Panurge, Epistémon, Gymnaste and Frère Jean, walk arm in arm in Paris. According to the caption they move their heads up and down and sing. Seen from the back and in old costumes it is a strange company in which the monk stands out especially. To the right in the background the silhouette of Notre Dame outlines itself against the sky.
