About this work
The design by Louis Royer and W. C. Brade. The fountain is crowned by the Amsterdam Maiden with the Amstel at her feet, in the guise of a sea god, and the Rhine, in the guise of a water nymph. In 1856, another monument was unveiled: Naatje van de Dam.
