About this work
Mary in a landscape with the Christ Child on her lap, another child against her shoulder, and next to her John the Baptist as a child. Depiction of the three theological virtues Faith (Fides), Hope (Spes), and Charity (Caritas). The child leaning against her shoulder depicts Charity. In her hand, Mary holds a burning heart, referring to Faith. Next to her stands an anchor, referring to Hope. In the background, Golgotha with the three crosses, on which Christ and the two thieves.
