About this work
Front view and plan of the Fountain of the Four Seasons in Paris against an Ionic temple facade. In the middle, a female personification of Paris sits on a throne with two reclining figures at her feet as personifications of the rivers Marne and Seine. At the bottom, four masks with water jets. On the left and right, reliefs with putti as allegories of the four seasons: Spring crowns herself with flowers, Summer is mowing, Autumn tastes the wine and Winter warms herself. Above the reliefs, angels with seasonal fruit stand in niches. On the right above, Pl. XIII.
