Portrait of the black clown Rafael Padilla, who performed under the stage name Chocolat, dancing in the so-called English Bar (Irish and American Bar) in Paris. He is musically accompanied by his partner, the clown George Footit. On the left stands the bartender known as Ralph or Randolphe.
