Allegory on the bankruptcies at the Amsterdam Stock Exchange due to speculative trading in the year 1763. The trading of Amsterdam (Mercury) is driven out by Pride and Luxury. In the foreground, an empty money chest, a bundle of unpaid bills, and a monkey doing the bookkeeping. In the background, dark clouds above the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. In the lower margin, a six-line Dutch text.
