About this work
A portrait of Maurice, Prince of Orange, surrounded by a laurel wreath and flanked by two female personifications. On the left, in a niche, the personification of the Church; on the right, that of politics, in imperial robes with sword and orb. Surrounding them are four personifications of Europe, Asia, America, and Africa. Below the title, a portrait of Emanuel van Meteren at the age of 76. At the top and bottom, a row of five images of kings and emperors.
