About this work

Christ on the cross between the two crucified criminals with Jerusalem in the background. On both sides of the cross, on the left Mary and the kneeling Veronica at the Veil of Veronica, on the right Mary Magdalene and John. Around it, various objects and figures are depicted that refer to what preceded the crucifixion and what happened afterwards. On the left outside, a crowd with the instruments of the Passion. On the right outside, a crowd, of which Barabbas is part, but also the rooster, the sword of Peter. On the right rear, the suicide of Judas. In the foreground, the dead rise. Texts in Latin.
