About this work
On the left Mary and on the right the angel Gabriel, who announces to her that she will conceive and bear a son. They are in a walled garden with flowering plants. Mary holds an open book in her hand. In this second state of the print, a gate in the garden wall has been added, with a woman behind it witnessing the Annunciation.
