About this work

The leading role here is not reserved for Narcissus, but for the landscape instead. The French printmaker Gabriel Perelle mainly produced landscapes, often in combination with buildings. He established an etching workshop, where he was assisted by his two sons Nicolas and Adam. As they signed only with their surname, it is often impossible to tell which family member was responsible for which print.
