About this work
A prominent member of the Paris Impressionists, Berthe Morisot played a special role within this innovative art movement. With her choice of subjects such as motherhood and domestic scenes, she secured a prominent place in art for contemporary everyday life of women. Here, she portrayed herself while sketching, with her little daughter curiously looking over her shoulder.
