About this work
Partially opened fan, decorated with a landscape in which pine trees are by a lake. Beside it a medicine box (inro) on which a crane and bamboo are depicted. Beside it a bead (ojime) of gemstone and a belt knot (netsuke) of ivory in the shape of a turtle. A long-haired turtle symbolizes a long life, due to the belief that it gets a tail of seaweed at the age of 10,000 years. The crane and pine trees are also luck symbols. With three poems.
