View of the San Zaccaria. In front of the church stand the Doge and his retinue on Easter Sunday. On Easter Sunday, the Doge, the signoria, dignitaries and representatives of the people came in a solemn procession from the San Marco to the church, where they attended vespers. This procession was held in memory of the fact that the nuns of this wealthy monastery had ceded a large part of their garden so that the San Marco Square could be enlarged.
