About this work

Part one (of two) of a collection of 30 poems with insects as the subject. The actual theme is love. The poems were selected by the poet Yadoya no Meshimori (1753-1830). The images of insects on flowers and plants are by Utamaro. Dark blue binding; title strip at top left; 10 sheets: three pages of preface; nine illustrations (over two pages) of insects on flowers and plants, with poems.
