About this work

Tobit sleeps against the wall of his house. A bird above his head drops its droppings on Tobit's eyes, causing him to go blind. Next to Tobit lies the shovel with which he buried a murdered man. In the background, his wife Anna stands by a tub, pouring water from a jug. Around the image is an inscription in Dutch and Latin.
