About this work

Top left the lion and the frog, top right the monkey with her two children, one of whom she rejects and the other she strangles. Bottom left the fox with a sow and her young, bottom right a lion killing a man. One of 8 unnumbered sheets from a series of 12 with pear-shaped pendants containing grotesques, birds, fish, and garlands, set within a framework of scrollwork and Schweifwerk. Biblical, mythological, and emblematic scenes and fables surround the pendants.
