About this work

The naked personification of Fortune or Luck (Fortuna) sails on a shell over the sea. She stands on a globe, sign of the fickleness of fortune. Also the round sail with which she sails over the water is a symbol for this fickleness. Around her swim various sea monsters and a ship goes down. In the background the contours of a city. The print has a Latin inscription.
