About this work
Developments in cutting techniques and a supply of gemstones from all over the world stimulated designs incorporating many types of stones and cuts. Imagine these jewels with diamonds, pearls, rubies, and emeralds. Even the tiny spider and the butterfly are set with precious stones. The backs of these jewels were also often covered with colourful enamelwork.
