About this work

The Tree of Jesse. Jesse and King David are at the bottom center; the prophets Elijah and Jeremiah are at the bottom left and right, respectively. Further figures in the tree include King Solomon, Nathan, two unnamed kings, Joachim, Mary, Jacob, and Joseph. At the top center is the Christ Child with the dove of the Holy Spirit, flanked by the four symbols of the Evangelists. The frame serves as a title page for the Gospel of Matthew. The print is part of an album.
