About this work
King Solomon sits on his throne and passes judgment on a dispute between two prostitutes who both had given birth. The child that dies lies on the ground before Solomon; the child that is still alive and claimed by both mothers is held by a man with a sword. This man receives the order from Solomon to divide the child in two, but this goes too far for the real mother; she begs him to let her child live.
