About this work
Cain is about to kill Abel with a donkey's jawbone. To the right two altars: the offering of Abel is approved by God (the smoke rises upwards), the offering of Cain is rejected (the smoke falls downwards). In the background Adam and Eve kneel by the body of Abel. In the margin a two-line inscription in Latin.
