About this work

Woman, offering breast to small child, held by second woman with in right hand a toy fishing rod and carp. In square cartouche top left a view of fluttering banners above the roof of a house. The banners and the carp, symbol for strength and perseverance, refer to the 'Boys' Festival', held on the fifth day of the fifth month.
