About this work
The Roman maiden Cloelia flees from the Etruscan camp of Lars Porsenna across the Tiber to Rome. Cloelia sits on a horse, ready to cross the Tiber. To the left, the wolf with Romulus and Remus and behind it the tent camp. To the right, four women at the bank of the Tiber and the contours of classical architecture.
