About this work

Factice album with sixty prints on sixty leaves. Factice album, meaning: an album compiled by a collector or owner of the prints. The album contains, with the exception of a single print, the complete series of book illustrations of sixty-one prints for a first edition of Nicolas de Nicolay's 'Les quatre premiers livres des navigations et pérégrinations orientales', published in 1568 in Lyon, consisting of four parts and here bound together in one album. The prints are pasted on album leaves, which are bound in a 19th-century parchment binding.
