Portrait of Wenzel Jamnitzer, engaged in perspective calculations

Gold and silversmiths were often depicted in the 16th century with the tools indicating their trade. Wenzel Jamnitzer is here portrayed as a scholar*, with objects referring to his scientific interest in the theory of perspective*. With this branch of science he also engaged in reality. He developed the instrument for perspective drawing, which he demonstrates here, and published his "Perspectiva corporum regularium" in 1568.
