About this work

Joseph, with two doves on his arm, and Mary present Christ in the temple. The righteous Simeon holds the child before the altar. In the background on the left, the prophetess Anna is seen praying. This print is part of a series on the eight Beatitudes of Christ and illustrates the Beatitude: Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. In the lower left corner, this text from Matt. 5:6 in Latin. At the bottom of the margin, a verse in Latin about Simeon, whose hunger and thirst for righteousness were satisfied when he saw and held Christ. This print is part of an album.
