About this work

The allegorical figure of Hearing. She holds a lute in her hand and plays the instrument. She is accompanied by a deer. In the background two Biblical scenes: John the Baptist preaches to the crowd (John 1:6-18) and God punishing Adam and Eve (Genesis 3:8). The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a five-part series about the senses.
