About this work

A woman with wings on her head and a halo of rays stands chained on a pyre. Four men with firewood, burning torch, weapon and chain stand around. Next to the woman stands a figure with snake hair and tries to take the cross from her hands. Above the pyre a putto flies with laurel wreath in his hand and Christ sits on clouds with his arms open, ready to receive the woman into his kingdom. In the background martyrs are tortured and killed.
