About this work

Printer's mark for the Plantijn-Moretus printing house in Antwerp. In the center, a hand with a compass, a reference to the printing house's signboard 'The Golden Compass'. On a scroll, the motto of Christoffel Plantijn: Labore et constantia. Next to the motto stand a male and female personification with a spade and a crucifix.
