About this work

Amnon, the eldest son of David, is in love with his half-sister Tamar. His cousin Jonadab advises Amnon in the foreground to pretend to be sick in bed and ask for Tamar's presence. To the right in the background, King David comes to visit his son Amnon, who is lying sick in bed. Amnon asks if Tamar can bring him food. Below the image, a Latin reference to the biblical text in 2 Samuel 13. This print is part of an album.
