About this work

On the right in the foreground stands John with a cup in his hand. This apostle died a natural death, but endured some tortures. These are visible behind him: in the upper left corner he is boiling in a pan of oil; in the middle ground he is seen drinking a cup of poison. Below the image an explanatory text in Latin. This print is part of an album.
