About this work
The blindfolded Cupido (Blind desire) sits on top of a rock. In his hands a rope to which the Man is chained. This one tries to climb the rock wall to reach Cupido and two bags of money. In a cartouche at the bottom of the print a Dutch inscription in rhyme. The print is part of a four-part series on the futility of hope in money and other worldly things.
