About this work

View of the Piazzetta (the part of the Piazza San Marco between the Palazzo Ducale and the Biblioteca Marciana) in Venice, in 1585. On the square various figures and the two columns with the statue of St. Theodore of Amasea and the lion of Marcus. In front of the coat of arms of the city of Venice on a pedestal, flanked by a river god and a river goddess. In the frame on the pedestal four lines in Latin.
