About this work
On the left in the background, the sick wait at the Pool of Bethesda until an angel comes to stir the water. A man who has been ill for thirty-eight years and has no one to carry him to the water lies to the right of the pool and is healed by Christ. Christ orders him to pick up his mat and walk. In the foreground the healed man walks past the temple with his mat on his back. The Pharisees before the temple rebuke him because he carries a mat on the Sabbath. Below the image a reference in Latin to the biblical text in John 5. This print is part of an album.
