Moses and the Brazen Serpent and Jonah and the Whale

Title print for a series of prints on the Passion of Christ. At the top a scene of Moses with his staff at the bronze serpent, fixed on a pole. The Israelites bitten by snakes look at it as a means to stay alive. At the bottom a scene of Jonah being thrown overboard and swallowed by a fish. In the center between two columns the title and two Bible texts from Matt. 12: 39-40 and John 3: 14-16 in Latin, in which Moses and the bronze serpent and Jonah are cited as prefigurations of the suffering and death of Christ.
