About this work

Allegory on the lottery of artworks for the benefit of the fatherland, exhibited in the Palace of Justice in Amsterdam from April 28 to July 9, 1831. King William I surrounded by the personifications of Abundance and Constancy. In the foreground Art with a genius offering a painting for the lottery. In the sky Fame blowing her horn with a banner 'Unity makes Strength'. At the bottom a four-line verse.
