About this work

A woman carries a wooden bucket in which she draws the first water of the new year. Her bucket is decorated with New Year attributes, such as fern leaves and a twisted rope. Next to her, a boy walks with a white rat on his hand, referring to the year of the rat, 1817. With six poems.
