About this work

Portrait of the French colonist René de Laudonniere Sablais, he was from Bordeaux and was therefore also called René de Burdigale. Meryon based himself on a print by Crispijn van de Passe but allowed himself liberties. He did not take over the dark background and the border he also adapted.
