About this work

Women from the village of Ôhara (so-called Ôharame) near Kyoto, walking in a procession with buffaloes carrying bundles of branches on their backs. The women carry bundles of branches on their heads. This print is a calendar sheet (egoyomi) for the year of the ox, 1805. The oxen represent the long months and the women the short months of that year. With three poems.
