Depiction of the appointment of Prince William III as Captain-General of the Dutch armed forces, 25 February 1672. The scene shows the moment the prince takes the oath before the clerk of the States-General, Gaspar Fagel. Two small scenes in the background show the banquet and fireworks held in honor of the prince's appointment.
