About this work

Monument to Lavater with his portrait in a round laurel wreath. Below the portrait: a cocoon and butterfly in an Ouroboros. Above the monument: two putti crowning the portrait with a starry wreath. At the foot of the monument: a female personification of the mourning city of Zürich and an angel or Cupid with a torch pointing downward.
